Garden Services

Consultation visit

Chris O'Donoghue Garden servicesAn initial meeting will give you the opportunity to discuss the three key elements that make up a successful design.
 1. How you would like your garden to look.
 2. How you would like to use it.
 3. Any special features you would like, such as water, lights and structures.
This visit will enable me to make notes and take dimensions from which I will produce an estimate of costs and an outline plan.
There is no charge for this visit within a 15-mile radius, otherwise there will be reasonable traveling expenses, refundable if the designs are accepted.

Survey

If you are happy with the quotation I will undertake a full survey of your garden covering aspect, contours, access points and type of soil. Existing features and structures, plants, trees and shrubs will all be taken into consideration for possible incorporation into the design.

Garden design

Using the information I will produce a detailed hand-drawn plan, finished with watercolour, usually at a scale of 1:50. This will show the design of the proposed garden with positions of pathways, features and major plants. I can also produce elevation drawings showing perspective views across the garden and details of particular features.

Planting plan

Your planting plan will be a separate drawing with details of names, position and number of specially chosen plants selected to enhance the garden design, suit soil type and aspect. When the work is done, you will be presented with a copy, complete with notes and hints on the care of the plants.

Managing the project

If you would like to manage the project yourself, I can advise on landscape contractors suitable for the work or, if preferred, act as project manager and oversee all aspects of the garden design and construction. The fees for this service can be discussed beforehand.

The plants

I can source and supply plants at competitive prices. This will allow you to do the planting yourself Alternatively, I can assist with the planting or complete the project for you.

Garden Maintenance

Once established, I can return to the garden at regular intervals to monitor and maintain the plants, if required.

Restoration

This is aimed specifically at gardens that have “got out of hand”. A supervised team will move in and restore the garden to its former glory. Please inquire about a visit and an estimate of cost.
